In screw form, a spherometer or micrometer can measure up to 0.01 mm. It is a rigidly and accurately constructed apparatus, with binding posts for connecting a bell or a galvanometer to indicate contact. The tube is of brass, chrome plated, and has a steam inlet and outlet and tubulure for the thermometer. Two rods strengthen the stand.
